Wheelchairs and Transit Chairs

Wheelchairs are used by many people who have either a disability or are currently rehabilitating from a physical injury. They come in different designs and sizes for all types of applications. The traditional ‘wheelchair’ has large wheels which allow the occupant to propel themselves, legrests, and armrests. The other, equally popular, design of chair is called a transit (or transport) chair. These chairs have a smaller rear wheel, usually 8 or 12 inches in diameter, and require a person to push the occupant. The major advantage with this type of chair is that it weighs less and is more compact for transportation.
